Academy of Ancient Music joins the new talents of players from Guildhall School of Music’s Historical Performance Department to perform two of Handel masterpieces, the Water Music and Music for the Royal Fireworks.
This evening will present the Water Music in its recently rediscovered form as a kaleidoscopic super-suite of orchestral colour and dance movements.
Much of the music is familiar through its use in the popular media but the impact of the period brass and wind instruments combined with the beauty of the baroque strings restores to these pieces the opulence and invention of Handel’s scoring
